Great piece as always, Al -- but one nitpick. You wrote:

Here's a stat to ponder: Ten of Coach K's 11 Final Four teams have ended the regular season with a victory over North Carolina. The one exception was 1990, when Duke lost a heartbreaker to the Heels in Cameron on Senior Day.

It's actually 9 of 11. The other exception is 1994, when Duke lost to Carolina in Cameron by a score of 87-77 on Senior Day for Grant Hill, Tony Lang, and Marty Clark. That one is forever stuck in my memory because it was the last home game of my senior year, too.

And now that I've resurrected such a painful memory, I think I'll go give myself a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it.

I agree with Al Featherston that the ACC championship is most important, because that is right in front of us. The NCAA is a crapshoot to a certain degree, and who knows what our side of the bracket will look like. As to Duke resting hobbled starters, would K really give major minutes to Kelly and Pagliuca? Duke is not really in a position to rest their starters.
