I believe when this came over the crawl last night during our game, I said out loud "oh hell naw."

I loved him and those Portland teams.

It's a real shame. A good player and apparently a better guy.

He was in the Triangle once.
I assume on business of some sort, he was an active player in the league at this point, not a student.
I rented him a car.

Apparently had surgery on Monday for his knee. Could have been a complication like a clot leading to a stroke. He was a very good player and was very active in the community. RIP.

I photographed him recently. He was very nice, gracious and fun. Apparently a knee surgery caused a blood clot that traveled to his lung.

I was in elementary school here in Portland during the good old days of Rip City. My Facebook feed is blowing up with photos of my friends with Jerome. He was really a beloved part of this community. The famous local radio announcer would always say "Mercy, mercy, Jerome Kersey!"

Mercy, mercy indeed. :(

Very sad to hear. Lost too many sports figures this month. God bless the Kersey family. GoDuke!

From our paper, he played somewhat locally:

He was beyond highly respected around here. Wish I'd have been lucky enough to have met him.
