Oh wow these could look really, really good. From this one sneak peak, it appears to be a reverse of the current white throwbacks the team has been wearing on occasion since last year. Here' a similar view of the shorts and top from Duke Blue Planet: 2014 Nike Hyper Elite Dominance (http://blog.dukeblueplanet.com/2014/02/retro-jersey-is-a-beauty/)

My personal favorites would be blue/white (no black) road jerseys we last wore, if memory serves, in 2004.

Can we get this in white permanently? I like th ewhite throwbacks we've been wearing but the piping around these would make the white ones perfect.

I think the piping on these is exactly the same as the white; the colors are inverted, but that's it.

After many years, Nike has gotten it just about right.

These are perfect.

I miss the V-neck of our uniforms from the past. For me, these would be perfect IF they had the V-neck. Call me weird, it's okay :-)).

I agree. I don't like the scoop neck with the thicker tank sleeve. Should be a thin tank sleeve + scoop neck, or thicker tank sleeve + V neck.

These uniforms are OK, but nothing compared to the late 90's/early 2000's unis.

As I was recuperating from a terrible cold yesterday, I was watching some of the tributes to Dean Smith(RIP) and I saw a glimpse of Johnny Dawkins in what looked like a darker shade of blue(uniform). It was so dark it was almost black. I seem to remember we had road uniforms with that color years ago. What ever happened to those uniforms. I liked them. but I'm probably in the minority here. GoDuke!

Going to ditto this as well. The best throwback would be to the jerseys worn by the 2001 team. Longer arm openings and the V-neck. Those were jerseys and not so much the tank tops everyone wears now. But I digress.

Memories fade as do old film...but I think the unis have gotten lighter over the years. I suspect the blue was closer to navy back in the 50's, 60's and 70's. I cannot remember when the unis got lighter. Could have been gradual. But they are distinctly different today than "back in the day".

I love these new unis. They're not as good as the early '90s blue and white numbers, but my goodness, they're worlds better than our typical duds these days. I have made no secret of my hatred for the blacksplosion on our uniforms, so even an imperfect return to purism is totally fine by me. If I really had my 'druthers, we would always be attired as follows:

So, September 23, 2015 will mark FIFTY YEARS since Duke officially adopted a school color. I suggest everyone on campus where a blue Duke shirt that day, and then we can line everyone up from West Campus to East Campus -- from the Chapel to Baldwin Auditorium -- in order of how light/dark their shirt is. Whoever ends up being judged as having the shirt that is actually closest to our school color -- gets some sort of prize.

This can't be DBR because posters are actually complimenting a Nike jersey!

Seems we have this discussion every year. Here's a similar thread that I started a few years ago with some interesting linked articles -- http://forums.dukebasketballreport.com/forums/showthread.php?14370-Duke-Colors-and-Other-Miami-Game-Musings&highlight=uniform.

There was also an article in Duke Magazine the following year that referenced that DBR thread and discussed the history of the Duke blue color. You can find it in the Duke Magazine archives.

I just looked up the Pantone Matching System and there's not just one Pantone 287, there are eight of them:

http://www.pantone.com/pages/pantone/colorfinder.aspx

(You'll have to enter 287 into the color finder as I couldn't link the "Duke" page directly.)

(There are no attached images as I never could see them in my edit so I "deleted" them. But, an empty "attached image" box appeared. And now, after trying to post one of the Pantone 287 images, that box has disappeared. I give up. I'd say strange but I'm sure it's just me:o.)

Will these jerseys stick around?

The alternate blues the team is wearing tonight appear to be an inverse version of the alternate white jerseys the team began wearing on February 15, 2014 (http://news.nike.com/news/respect-the-past-represent-the-future-duke-university-basketball). The team last year loved the alternate white uniforms so much they wore them again later on in the season. They even wore them in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

4735

(Sorry to bring up any bad memories)

The team has even worn them throughout the year this year.

4736

I'm wondering if we'll see these slowly creep into the regular rotation...

These should be the right RGB numbers, although different screens may display slightly differently.

I was out of town all weekend, so I missed the announcement of the new jerseys. I cannot tell you how excited I was to see the blue fauxbacks last night!

We honestly should have 3 jerseys going forward: white fauxbacks at home, blue fauxbacks on the road and if you want to go ahead and make some black/blue fauxbacks as a 3rd jersey, cool. If you want to keep the current 3rd (black) jersey, that's fine too. Either way, we don't need another jersey set ever again.

What are the RGB numbers? The Pantone page doesn't appear to give a conversion to RGB.

Probably more than you really want to know here (http://www.colorhexa.com/00009c). We dug around for the DBR styles.

I love the simplicity of the design, although I miss the v-neck. But I am curious, has anyone seen these uniforms in person? On the tv, they seem to change colors from a royal blue to more of a silver/grey blue. I know it could be the difference in cameras and the lighting, but I wondered if maybe the fabric had a reflective property to make it look different. The warmups are blue and grey, not blue and white.
