Wake is in a three-way tie for last in the ACC, but the first meeting with the Deacs was way more interesting than Duke fans expected or wanted. The Deacs opened the game with a 10-0 run, and led 26-10 midway through the first half. Duke eventually got things turned around and rallied to win by seven, but for a good long time it looked like Duke's 22-year win streak against the Deacs might be in jeopardy. Hopefully the Duke alarm clock will go off precisely at 7:00 p.m. tonight.

Just pushing this to the top in case there are people who don't know the game is on ESPN3 at 7:00. Go Duke!

Duke up 37-24 at the half. Azur'a en route to a career high if she keeps it up. Duke with only eight turnovers (yes-haa!).

Only 15 turnovers! That's awesome!
Why didn't Rebecca start?

Meanwhile, Cuse survives a comedy of errors down the stretch and holds on to beat Carolina.

We pulled out an interesting wrinkle at the defensive end tonight: trapping the wings, at seemingly random times, forced about five Wake turnovers, a lot of which were converted at the other end.

Wake shot almost 42% from the floor, including 7-13 from three, but all the turnovers contributed to a dismal efficiency number, .791 points per possession, slightly worse than Duke's season average defensive efficiency of .808. Duke got 1.014, almost exactly equal to its season number of 1.015.

She did start, per Duke WBB twitter and my recollection. ESPN.com box scores screw that up fairly often.

Gotcha, thanks. Duke is in 3rd place in the ACC. :D

Stevens had 24 - a pure joy to watch.

Stat of the night: VaTech and Miami shot a combined 30-113, including 4-42 from three.

Miami held on to win, 42-39. It was 16-8 at the half.

81 points on 136 possessions. Point. Five. Nine. Six. Unreal. Glad I didn't pay for a ticket to see that mess.

Yeah, I talk about it every game, but Azurá just keeps getting better. She's pretty amazing.

Ka'lia with 11 points on 5 for 6 shooting, 8 assists to only 1 turnover, and 5 steals. Wow.

For a minute I thought Kendall and Becca had changed uniforms: Becca 2 for 5 from the line and Kendall 3 for 3 from the line.

According to the box score, our defense had 16 steals. Wake got credited with 23 turnovers, but it seemed like more.

Anyone have word on Oderah? She appeared to re-injure her shoulder a couple minutes into the game and then never returned.

No blocks for EWill last night, which is a rarity. (In fact, there was only one block by the entire team.) She has 42 blocks to go to catch Alison Bales and break the ACC record. That won't be easy, but it's not impossible.

I think she had a block or two, but just didn't get credit for it.

From "Herald Sun"

"The win for Duke (17-6, 8-2 in ACC) did not come without a cost. Sophomore forward Oderah Chidom re-injured her left shoulder and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Chidom dislocated her shoulder earlier this season and has dealt with injury ever since. Chidom started Thursday night and scored two points before leaving with injury."

"Chronicle"

Chidom's injury left Duke with just eight healthy players, but the Blue Devils got contributions all over the floor in the win.rWhat do you think? "I'm sorry for Oderah, her shoulder's going to bother her a little bit, no doubt about that," McCallie said

I hope it's not a long-term thing. Without her we're down to 8 recruited scholarship players, not to mention one of our starters.

At this point, I have to assume the only way forward is to have the men and women practice against each other.
