Loved the big win over UVa, but want to give a shout-out to other outstanding athletic performances over the weekend.

NEW YORK CITY – Wrapping up the Armory Track Invitational Saturday, the Duke men’s and women’s track and field teams combined to place second overall out of 71 colleges, the Blue Devils’ best finish ever at the meet. The women’s squad placed second as a unit and set two school records on the day, while the men’s 4x800m relay team took first to guide Duke to a 12th-place finish in the men’s team standings.

DURHAM, N.C.—The Duke University wrestling team returned home to Card Gymnasium with a bang Saturday, going 3-0 in a trio of thrilling duals. The Blue Devils downed Drexel, American and Appalachian State to improve to 8-4 on the year and 3-1 at home.

Duke, behind solid team efforts in each dual, upended Drexel 24-13 to start the day and added a convincing 30-9 victory over American and closed out the evening with a thrilling 24-17 comeback win over Appalachian State. The Blue Devils’ triumph over Drexel marked the first in program history

These athletes train hard and are competing at a high level. Major props to them.

Also this weekend, alum Shannon Rowbury ran the 5th fastest indoor mile in the history of the world (3rd fastest among clean athletes, 1st fastest among athletes not suspected of doping), in Winston-Salem of all places.

Thanks, wasn't aware of that until you mentioned it, and that facility is not far from where I am.

Here's a link with good coverage:
Shannon Rowbury Runs 4:22.69 In Women’s Mile, Becomes 5th Fastest Performer Ever (http://www.letsrun.com/news/2015/01/shannon-rowwbury-runs-422-69-womens-mile-becomes-5th-fastest-performer-ever/)

2014 was a special year for Shannon Rowbury as for the first time in her career, she broke 4:00 in the 1500, 8:30 in the 3000 and 15:00 in the 5000. 2015 may be even more special as she showed today at the Camel City Elite Races in Winston-Salem, North Carolina that she’s in supreme early season shape as she destroyed the field and facility record by winning the women’s Mellow Mile in 4:22.66, a new world leader.
