Had an appointment with a specialist over there today.....of course i wore my duke hoodie..

After checking in, another patient with his baby blue on proclaimed loudly. "Duke? DUKE? where is DUKE?" which kind of prompted some others in the large waiting room to chuckle a bit.

I said, " Number 2 in the country, undefeated, and 99.9% sure we'll keep our titles.....how are Y'ALL looking?

it was morbidly quiet after that.....

So you are saying geography is another questionable course over there?

Well, we're their rival, and any association at all with UNC is pretty damning at this point.

Sure, we're antithetical to just about everything about them, but just being on a field/court/track with them multiple times a year is probably worth .1% right there.

In Chapel Hill, that's the realm of the brain surgeons!

I'm not sure if "morbidly quiet" is how you want to describe a hospital area.

There are 5 historically valid medical reasons for a Duke fan to voluntarily visit a UNC-CH hospital:

1. To induce vomiting
2. To remove the spine (it's a common procedure)
3. To pick up laxatives for Roy Williams in April 2003
4. To get a hearing test after strangely muffled Dean Dome experience
5. Because it's a hospital with competent doctors, nurses, and medical staff, some of whom don't care about sports and have no connection to academic scandals. (It had to be said.)

The first 4 are amusing and I gotta credit moonpie for being quick and witty. I guess he could have been quiet and let the question pass, but, dadgummit, the guy was asking him a question;).

The last is true/reality. My daughter, yea, the former DUKE cheerleader, is a medical student there and having a great learning/educational experience at half the cost (or less) than what she'd be paying at WFU or Duke. Smart kid;). Takes after her Mom (my wife). Of course, she's still a sports/Duke fan and has had to defend herself verbally on occasion when some unc knucklehead provokes her.

Being that she is at unc, is she planning on a career in Proctology?

Nope. Her head is in a different zip code than that;).
