Opening the season with Tulane on espn Thursday?

Outstanding!

An entire 2015 regular season where we'll either be favored or--at worst--pick-em?

Priceless!

I'm guessing they will be a better team than they were this year, and of course it's on their field in prime time. That will be a great test for our guys to start the season with. :D

September 3 could be a good time to be in New Orleans. (Labor Day will September 7.) The Blue Devil Special will be available for those who want to be part of a group on site for the game. If you want to travel with other Duke fans by train, stay tuned. More information on The Blue Devil Special after the first of the year.

One odd thing about the 2015 schedule is that we again didn't get Florida State, Clemson, Notre Dame, or Louisville. Perhaps the idea is one more year of traction, and then let loose the dogs of war.

That's not part of any plan. That's actually a part of the schedule that Duke has no say in. The Notre Dame games are negotiated by the ACC. And our cross-divisional games are dictated by a long-term schedule.

We're not going to play FSU, Clemson or Louisville half the time going forward -- and at most we play one. we will always play a cross-divisional game with Wake. Our other Atlantic opponent will rotate through a six-year period. We get each of those other Atlantic teams once every six years.

Except, of course, when we play them in the ACC title game.

Because despite what the critics say, we've played FSU in each of the last three years (2011 and 2012 were before the current rotation was set) and we're likely to play them again this year.

I hope we will be favored every game next year. I know we have been recruiting well, but we will be replacing a lot of contributors next year, many of them quite prominent. I will await the off season for that assessment from some of our insider posters.

In other words, let's hope we get to see Clemson/FSU every year, because that means we're doing something right.
