It was a beautiful night for soccer, a beautiful effort by the team to come back from being down 1-0 at the half, and a beautiful scoreboard at the end!

(Also beautiful: the Carolina fans walking back to their cars with their eyes down instead of yelling cheers, and the stacks of $5 bills they left at the ticket stand.)

How great is this? Our star freshman soccer player is named Cameron Moseley. Cameron is leading the ACC in goal and assists. Midfielder Sean Davis had a goal and then an assist on Cameron's game winner in the 81st minute.

And lest we forget, both Duke goals were spectacular. The first was a 27-yard free kick that got over the wall, took a sharp left turn and found the top corner. The second was a diving near-post header off a driven diagonal ball into the box. There's a replay available on the Watch ESPN app; if you just want to see the Duke goals, fast-forward to the 75th minute.

Bad link in the initial post. I fix now.

You are correct - those 2 goals were world class. I was able to watch online via espn3. The heels had not given up a goal in 5 games.

As someone who used to go to every home game as a student, as well as lots of away games as both a student and alumnus, it's a little weird seeing the balance of power shift away from Duke.

Don't get me wrong, it's great to see Duke beat Carolina, but talk of an undefeated #1 UNC having not given up a goal in 5 games is just so foreign to me. In the late 90's / early 2000's, Duke had such dominant teams that we mopped the floor with the ACC. Guys like Jay Heaps, Robbie Russell, Evan Whitfield, Ali Curtis, Kevin Sakuda. Maybe not world-class pros, but we were filling the MLS ranks pretty rapidly. That seems to have fallen off somewhat... or are we just in a down cycle?
