It is going to hurt every week to see that out-for-season list. Hopefully it doesn't get any longer.

How long has Shabazz been out? That news seems to have slipped me.

Is that a major blow to our D-Line?

Other than the obvious, this isn't that bad. Brown and Deaver are the only two guys on the list who played much last season. McNeill and Sanders aren't going to play this season. A healthy Beilinson would help ameliorate the loss of Deaver but it appears that Beilinson is going to be out awhile.

Shabazz would have had a hard time breaking into the DE rotation. Lots of upperclassmen ahead of him.

To put it another way, this isn't going to get any better anytime soon. There aren't any key players on the verge of returning.

No ... Shabazz is a big-time prospect with great potential. But as a true freshman at a position where almost all of Cut's recruits redshirt ... AND position where we are loaded with veteran players. There was very little chance he would have played this year anyway -- a slight chance because he is a great prospect. But he was never a guy they were counting on to play. Right now, we have five DEs in the rotation.

I agree with Jim. Other than the terrible news about Kelby and Deaver -- which we already knew -- this is not a bad injury report. We also knew that Beilinson and Lloyd were going to be out awhile. I didn't know Shabazz was out for the season, but anybody who attended Meet the Blue Devils knows he was on crutches and wouldn't be ready to play anytime soon.

The only new injuries in the report were McNeill and Sanders -- two true freshmen OLs who were 100 percent certain to redshirt anyway.

The thing to watch in coming weeks will be the potential return of Lloyd and Beilinson -- it won't be next week, but in a month or maybe six weeks, one or both might be available.. They are the only two names on the list (other than Kelby and Deaver) who would have played if healthy.
