Quin Snyder - "Mighty Quinn"

JJ Redick- "Shoot to Thrill" by AC/DC

Matt Christensen- "The Monstars Anthem" from Space Jam

Ryan Kelly- "Number 1 Stunna" by the Birdman

Laettner- "Killing in the Name" by Rage Against the Machine

Chris Duhon- "Born on the Bayou" by CCR

Kyle Singer- Iron Man

Nolan Smith will always be Jay-Z's Public Service Announcement to me.

I'll think of more. Shelden Williams has to have a good one here.

This should be fun. And while we're at it, feel free to suggest walk up music for the kids at Glenwood Elementary, too.

... Ryan Kelly- "Number 1 Stunna" by the Birdman ...

Would work (literally) for Kyrie or Jabari as well, I guess.

But White Raven nickname, ya know? And that's probably Birdman's best song. You can find better ones for Kyrie and Bari. Plus I'm pretty sure Jabari would be furious if his walk-up music wasn't some kind of underground Chicago hip-hop song. That's all he ever tweets about!

Somewhat related, here's a neat site that catalogs baseball player walk up music.

Apparently Josh Reddick's "Careless Whisper" is the rage these days.

The Crazies should segue the "bounce bounce" cheer into Ignition ...

Kyrie is easy: "Brass in Pocket" by Pretenders.

"I'm special, so special, I gotta have some of your attention ..."

For Shelden, I'm hearing Living Colour ... maybe "Information Overload," maybe "Glamour Boys."

Roy is obvious. Either "Hound Dog" by Big Mama Thornton (and Elvis), or anything by Droop Doggy Dogg.

Doh! Would have to be "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot.

Rasheed Wallace = "Oldest Baby in the World" by John Prine.

PJ = "Light Up or Leave Me Alone" by Traffic. (Or "Lawyers, Guns and Money" by Warren Zevon)

Ray Felton, pro edition -- "Don't Bring Me Down" by ELO.

Re his time at Duke, an ironic choice for Kyrie might be "Footloose."

Or you could use Bobby Brown's "Every Little Step (I Take)."

If Semi ever needs walk-up music, I'm going with "Shimmy shimmy ko-ko bop."

Lots of songs with "Zero" in the name for Austin Rivers--maybe "Ground Zero" by Lil Wayne?

Country Grammar was a great song, that works for Semi.

Also, JJ's best youtube video is to Nas' "hate me now" which was great.

Bobby Hurley: "Wipe Out", The Surfaris.

If you were there, you know why.

Alaa's song, of course, was performed at Lip Sync '88.

While I was thinking of the Little Anthony and the imperials song (geezer alert), Country Grammar is much closer to being current and thus a better choice.

I'd be willing to bet that today's players would consider Nelly to be just as much "geezer" music as Little Anthony and the Imperials. 'Country Grammar' came out 14 years ago, when Semi was approaching kindergarten.

True enough, sigh, though it may at least sound a little more like music of today than Little Anthony (of course, again, that is only to an ancient ear, likely incapable of hearing the fine distinctions in varieties of rap and hip hop).

Guys... Semi knows Country Grammar. The Black Album came out 11 years ago and everybody under 25 knows that album. With I-Tunes/Grooveshark/Pandora, it's easier to listen to older stuff now a days. We have veered a little off course here I think. Back to business.

Nick Horvath- "She Blinded me with Science" Physics Major! At Duke?!!! Gotta be in the conversation for smartest Duke athlete of all time.

I know. It was another example of an older, really well known album even amongst 19 year olds. If you look at my original post, I said Country Grammar by Nelly, on the album Country Grammar, and I assumed, perhaps wrongfully so, that everyone knew Jay-Z did the Black Album.

Don't you worry your pretty little head about my knowledge of early 2000s rap my friend. I've refined my musical palate since then, but it doesn't mean I forget. I will admit that my previous post was a bit confusing. Here's to hoping it is cleared up.
