Rodney didn't win any of the events, but was near the top in each of them.

FWIW PJ Hairston did not light it up, finishing in the middle of the pack or below. I guess the cones play better defense than the D-league guards.

Oh? How do you know? No smoking on the bus to D-league games. Combine has no rule.

Being only 201 lbs at 6' 8" is not going to help him.

Being only 201 lbs at 6' 8" is not going to help him.

Using 220 as a weight goal (the weight for both Battier, 6'8", and Deng, 6'9"), RODNEY only has to gain 15 pounds. While I can't dunk or consistently hit a jump shot, I am confident I could teach him how to gain 15 pounds by the beginning of next season (I could have him halfway there by Memorial Day if he were willing to really sit at the table)...

For the NBA draft experts, how does his defense compare to the rest of the players available in the draft?

As a SG/SF swingman, I don't think Hood's weight is a big concern. I actually like him better at SG than at SF at the NBA level, so 6'8" 205-210 is pretty good size.

Now, if a team is going to pigeonhole him at SF, then he'll have to add about 10 lbs. But I don't see that as a huge problem for him (he's not exactly maxed out on his frame.

It reduces his chances of developing diabetes.

208 pounds

Could be - I was going by the metrics given with his pic on the side. 208 may be right

[H]ow does [Rodney Hood's] defense compare to the rest of the players available in the draft?

Did you mean defense or diet?

Haha, I was actually being serious about his defense and how scouts see what he needs to improve in the NBA.

Hood's issue is not eating but rather keeping it down. All 80 some odd NBA tip-offs will be hard on his tummy.:D

Not another thread about diets :(

Personally I see him at mid teens, not at low/mid 20s as some recent projections show. Perhaps the consensus is that he only deserves a 20-30 slot now, however there are teams that will be tempted with his athleticism and ability to get to the rack and shoot from distance as the article in question pointed out. It only takes one believe in the 11-20 range and the draft doesn't look nearly as strong 11-20 vs 1-10. To me it seems like the normal 11-20 type athletes that you get most drafts. It's just that the top 8-10 could have been to 3-5 in prior years. So maybe twice as many elite 'potential' level players.

I am hoping he continues the Duke to Chicago pipeline!

And back again -- the Chicago to Duke pipeline has produced some sweet basketball crude.
