The Duke baseball team won in 12 innings today to take the second of three games with UNC at Jack Coombs Field.

Duke was down 6-1 in the third, but rallied to tie the game at 8-8. The Devils won 9-8 in the 12th on a bases loaded single by Ryan Dietrich.

Friday's one run win broke a nine-game losing streak to the Heels.

The final game of the series is Sunday afternoon at Coombs Field. Go for the sweep!

I had to double check but UNC came into the series ranked 21st in the country. Even more impressive for the good guys!

That's great 3 in a row against the heels!! The thread was awhile ago but I believe it was titled "Welcome to
Duke coach Pollard". I posted in it because I played for coach at Pfeiffer (Div 2) in the early 2000's. The man knows talent, he turned our program around in about three years once his recruits were in. That team went on to win over 40 games and made the World Series. Soon after he went to Appalachian and before long made them a winner. It might take a couple years but I'm convinced that coach can make Duke a competitive baseball team on a consistent yearly basis. Happy for him and the Devils!!!
