With the game coming up tonight with Wake Forest -- and at UNC in eight days -- I think it's time to revisit Duke's remarkable current run against in-state opponents in both football and basketball.

Duke currently has AT LEAST a two-game winning streak over its Big Four rivals in both sports. It's actually exactly a two-game winning streak against all three in football. It's two straight over NC State and UNC in basketball ... I believe it's seven straight over Wake Forest since a 2009 loss in Winston-Salem.

Over the last two years, Duke is 7-0 vs. in-state opponents in football and 13-1 in basketball (the lone loss being the first meeting with NC State last year).

If you go beyond the Big Four, Duke has an incredible run of dominance over the other in-state schools -- 22 straight against Davidson in basketball (11 straight in football, although the last one was in 1942); 6 straight vs. App State in hoops; three straight against Charlotte; three straight against WCU in basketball (and three straight in football); 3 straight against NCCU in football (and 1-0 in basketball), 2-0 vs. Asheville in basketball; six straight against Elon; 8-0 vs. North Carolina A&T in basketball; 2-0 vs. Campbell; 1-0 vs. Gardner Webb; 9-0 vs. UNC Greensboro in hoops; 21 in a row against East Carolina in basketball.

The only two in-state programs that currently have a winning streak vs. Duke are Guilford in basketball (we haven't faced the Quakers since losing to them in 1926) and East Carolina in football (last game was 2005).

It's clear that in recent years, that despite NC State's ad campaign and UNC's arrogance, this has been "Our State".

You can count Women's basketball in that too. They haven't played either of the Big 4 yet this year but beat all three twice last year.
