WBB: Duke 90, UVa 55

Lot to like about that first half.

Duke opened the game with a 20-4 run, went off the boil for a few minutes, and then got it back. Shot 60 percent from the floor while holding Cindy Lou & Co. to 26.5 (everybody other than Faith Randolph is a combined 3-22). Tricia already has 10 rebounds.

Two things not to like: 17 turnovers and 5-15 from the line.

That said, UVA gave ND a real battle in its last game, and we destroyed them. They couldn't run their offense, they couldn't score in transition, and we were able to do pretty much whatever we wanted. Thirteen blocked shots!

In their post game interviews, the players said this was the most complete game they have played to date. UVA is not a bad team, as Burns pointed out their results vs. ND, so a total blowout supports the players assertions. I remember last year, many games were frustrating to watch because even though they were victories, they so often consisted of two polar opposite halves. Nice to see them playing a solid 40 minutes at the beginning of the ACC season.
