Vegas line was Michigan by 2.5. Pomeroy as well.

Home Court matters.

Does this mean we can announce the UNC-UK Upset Alert now, because either the lower-ranked team or the underdog is guaranteed to get the win?

Yeah, UNC is a 3 point favorite in that game.

Forget Stauskus, LeVert is the best guard on that team. LeVert is for real.

No. When the higher/better team loses it's an upset. Regardless of court or injuries

No, an upset is by definition a result that is a surprise. When a team that is expected to lose loses, it is not a surprise. Similarly, ISU beating UMich earlier this season was NOT an upset. Home Court and injuries obviously matter.

Is Duke's win against Michigan still not a good win?

UMich up 1 with 25 seconds left. It's been back and forth down the last few minutes. Can Michigan hold on????

that sound you heard? that was Michigan choking this game away. Albrecht missing that FT is gonna haunt them...

Watching the last 9.1 seconds of the game take forever to play makes me long for the good ole days of yesteryear when the game clock kept running while the ball was being thrown in bounds.

And Arizona wins. Very predictable.

By the way, Mitch McGary was projected as a top 5 draft pick at the end of last year, wasn't he? Dude probably isn't even a first rounder at this point. 8 points and 4 boards today. He's not even one of Michigan's top 3 players right now.

-Jason "aside from a great run for 2 weeks in the NCAa tourney*, Michigan has been a very disappointing team last season and this one" Evans

*- that does count for a lot

Good spot but Albrecht is a whiny punk. I don't like McConnell from AZ either but he doesn't mope like Albrecht does.

These upset alert threads never seem to work out.

The next time it is a critical game that affects Duke (ACC upsets for instance) can we think of some other term so that we don't jinx the upset?

I should start a thread entitled "Upset Alert: UNC over UK" just to test to see if the reverse jinx also works.

And yes, I know that UNC is technically favored in today's matchup.

How about we change the title of the thread to Michigan St. - Oakland? Spartans down 1 at the half to a 2-8 team.

No way. JNort is correct. When the #1 team loses, it's an upset. That's the story. That's certainly the headline. Arizona could have all starters out with the flu, suffer travel problems over 2 days, and arrive at Michigan's arena just before tip-off, with no practice time and no jerseys or shoes. Also, Freaky Friday has continued into Saturday with Chris Webber playing in Mitch McGary's body, a situation not anticipated by the NCAA rule book. If Michigan wins, it's still an upset. You can explain the mitigating factors all you want, but in the middle of your first sentence, almost everyone has stopped listening to you.

Because many in the media are stupid, we should mangle the English language?

We have a family code phrase when upsets or, especially, no-hitters are developing, "It's turned into a very INTERESTING game" or "Are you watching this very INTERESTING game?" "Getting INTERESTING"

Yes, we're all crazy, but that's not the point here.

You're all welcome! Now, back to thinking about good Christmas gifts for your spouses, or for me if you've already finished your shopping list!
