Something to remind ourselves about, should we get another meeting with KU or Arizona in the spring. 20-something point difference made up by Memphis from their first meeting with OK State just the other week. Teams can improve over time during a season... especially young ones.

It's not only improvement, but the fact that there's way more variability/luck/chance/whatever you want to call it from one game to the next than most seem to recognize. We see teams in the NBA playoffs routinely bounce back for a win after getting beat by 10+ the night before. But I agree with your thought for sure. First meeting doesn't have much significance.
