seemingly not on TV Sunday? ncaa.com, whatever value that may have...

Fortunately, Duke is still playing, so we don't need the meteor.

I watched today's game online. It was a decent feed - except for the half time graphic that had the score wrong. It listed Duke 2, Maryland 3 instead of the other way around. MD had way more shots on goal. Our defense played tough - great work by the goalie.

UConn and unc are currently in their 2nd OT with 8 minutes left so not sure who we will play yet.

Opponent for Sunday will be determined by a shootout. Should be interesting.

It was - and UConn advances. Not sure how the last unc shooter missed - she had the ball behind the goalie and in front of the goal. Bless her heart, as Ima would say.

I'd have rather seen about a 6-8 OT game like Duke men's soccer played back in the 80s (or 90s?) for the natty.

Or a meteor:o.

Sheesh. Now we are a football school AND a field hockey school;).

UConn wins, and much more importantly, UNC loses.

Alas, umpteen OTs were only for championship games. And then they changed the rule.

Eight overtimes. The problem is that there was no rule. Some earlier, shorter games were declared ties, e.g. Maryland and Michigan State in 1968, after two OTs. Slackers. The powers-that-be made it up as they went along.

The game wasn't on TV or radio and there was no internet. The Duke basketball radio-team got periodic updates and that was the way I kept up with the game. Unfortunately, the basketball game was a loss at Vanderbilt.

A long night all around.

I remember beating Alabama in the meadowlands the same night we beat Akron (heard about it on the radio as we left the game). I don't recall an overlapping basketball game v Indiana. I think I followed it on xdu, but I'm not sure at this point. Damned memory...

UConn upset #1 Syracuse in the Big East last year and is good (obviously, since they beat UNC, which was a challenge for us and everyone else). The NCAA.com video feed is not bad right now for the Duke women's soccer game and hopefully it will be good on Sunday. Unfortunately, the weather prediction for Va. Beach then is cold and very windy but hopefully that will not influence the match too much. GO DUKE!

So the Heels lose and Duke sends Maryland off to the B1G with a loss. Sounds like a perfect day to me.

Unfortunately, the season ends with a 0-2 loss to UConn. Thank you for a wonderful season, Blue Devils.

They did what only one other team was able to do...play in every game possible. Great year, hopefully a sign of more to come.

Idiots at the NCAA.com Game Center page had absolutely everything reversed (at least on the mobile page). Fooled me into thinking we were winning until I saw the headline at the end. That puts a dent in my day.

Yes, but our "Duke Won, Akron Zip" was not the 8 overtime game. That was the year prior (1985) and didn't involve Duke. There was also one that we played in 1982 to 8 overtimes, but lost to Indiana.
