Don't look now but NC Central leads NC State 33-27 at the half.

Ouch doesn't even begin to cover it.

Greatest conference ever? You can talk the talk but can you walk the walk.

I suspect they'll pull it out. But still.

Georgia Tech also trails Dayton 39-32 at the half. Much more respectable, but not what you want to see from the Greatest Conference Ever.

Listened to a good part of the first half while on the road.
Seemed like a whistle-fest, and NC Central was hitting their foul shots.

TJ Warren fouled out. Central up 6 thanks to near perfect FT shooting, 1:18 left.

Eagles have put on a free throw shooting clinic.

And NOW we know the effect of all the hand checking calls. Quick guards will get EVERYONE in foul trouble no matter the competition...

Final score: 82-72 Central. Central shot 41-45 from the line. That will do.

NC State looks awful. Or maybe I'm just spoiled watching Hood and Parker.

Like was mentioned before, it is going to be interesting to see once tournament time rolls around how these new rules will affect games. From what I've gathered so far it may be upset city this year, hope we aren't on the wrong end of it!

The Best Conference Ever is looking pretty mediocre. Pains me to say.

78 free throw attempts combined.

An NCCU player scored 29 on just 4 made FG attempts.

4 NC State players fouled out.

Sounds like a train wreck.

You mean he got paid to play, legally, too?

There was a little box recovered from that train wreck. Inside was a note that read, "Free throws are really important." I hope that note gets passed around.

Who's the best free-throw shooting team in the country? Them for national champions.

Ask and it shall be given unto you:

I know it's kind of early in the season, but do you really want to stay with Indiana State as your pick;)?

To be fair, they have not had to face the free throw defense of Kansas.

They did beat Notre Dame. At South Bend. By 13.

Think Duke would take that right now? I would.

They also lost to Belmont by a point. Which is better than some teams.

No, but here's their roster if you'd like to familiarize yourself with hurleyfor3's pick for the natty next spring;) .

Clemson is 8th. CLEMSON. It is truly bizarro world.

Small samples lead to surprising results. But it still hurts to be worse than Duquesne and Sacred Heart (and 148 other teams) at this point. Of course, we've faced tougher FT defense than they all have, but still...

I think we'll be OK if we shoot 70%. Less than that brings trouble. Big trouble in big games.

Alternative universe, or, as we frequently say here, "Too small a sample size;)."

Could I at least get a larger sample size before you spend the rest of the year holding me to that?

Louisville is dead last and Syracuse is in the bottom 10. Bad news, especially for Loovul and Pitino's "press all the time because they can't call everything" strategy.

Hurley, bold calls declaring that Indiana State will win the Natty, and that neither Louisville or Syracuse will make the NIT.

Of course, I may be extrapolating your conclusions from a small sample of posts.

Pitino's "press all the time because they can't call everything" strategy.

Hfor3, you make me laugh! Brilliant observation.
Sadly, I think they can and are going to call everything all the time, everywhere, forever and ever and when they can't, they'll fake it.

Absolutely on the larger sample size:cool:. I think I kinda/sorta clarified that in a later post about small sample sizes (Junior Samples not included:rolleyes:.) I'm hoping we can be 70% or better for the season as someone posted upthread.

I suspect Belmont's upset of Carolina is going to later result in all sorts of transitive property hilarity and riot by late January or February.
