Only two NCAA players have ever had pick-sixes on two consecutive plays. DeVon Edwards, of course, turned the trick last night. The other?
Leon Wright, who did the same in the span of 16 seconds against Army in 2009...for the Duke Blue Devils.

That's right, only two college players ever have done that, and they're both Cutcliffe-era Blue Devils. That's crazy.

Manning Schmanning. Maybe Coach Cutcliffe should be recognized for developing cornerbacks.

Cut was very quick and proud to point that out in his post-game presser.

Let's add a couple more facts to this conversation:

DeVon Edwards had only ONE scholarship offer. (You may fill in the school and coach's names here:_____________.)
He's a good basketball player, much like Jamison Crowder and Issac Blackeney, but his momma told him he's better at football.

I'll add another. Our longest run from scrimmage yesterday was by a "converted" LB as Juwan Thompson jaunted 31 yards with one of his two carries;).

Other similarities between the Leon Army game and DeVon NCSU game:
- in both, we were predicted to win big
- in both, the starting QB (Thad, AB) seemed in a bit of a funk and matters were disconcertingly close, late
- Cut went to the backup in both games (SR, BC) who got us TDs .. and generated "who's the QB going forward?" questions
- both opponents were teams that struggled, generally, to pass the ball, and when forced to so in the 4th, history happened

Another "first since..." fact about DeVon Edwards' star-making turn on Saturday: He is the first Division 1A (or FBS or what-the-hell-ever) player in over 10 years to score three non-offensive TDs in one game. The last player to do so was Antonio Perkins, who returned 3 punts for touchdowns in Oklahoma's game against UCLA in September of 2003:

Once again, pretty lofty company for our boys and our program.

I believe Edwards did not play his junior year in HS due to injury, so kudos to Cut for keeping track of this
mere two star athlete who clearly slipped through the recruiting cracks for a lot of programs.

This is a little misleading. Juwan has been a RB for us for 3 1/2 years. He was "converted" to LB a few weeks ago due to all the injuries we have had at the LB position. He is a natural RB though, and a tough SoB.
