Can't believe no one's started this yet, so I will. 1 p.m. Saturday, November 2, at Cameron.

Duke continues its practice of scheduling the reigning Division II championship program. Drury is apparently a small team, which means that Duke should have an advantage inside, but it may make pressuring Drury difficult.

I'm looking for an improvement in defense from the Bowie State exhibition.

-Another game to watch the competition for playing time among Andre, Matt Jones and Rasheed

-Are Jabari and Hood going to continue to impose their will on opposing defenses? With Drury being small, will Jabari adjust and punish them on the block?

-Against a small and quick team, will we still be able to play pressure D (as stated by MChambers). Related to this point, are the new hand check rules going to make it really hard to play effective extended pressure D on the perimeter? Will that kind of extended pressure necessitate more quick traps rather than one-on-one "in your jock" pressure?

-What kind of line-ups will we see? Small vs Small, Big vs Small, etc?

I am looking forward to it and highly recommend the stream into the laptop that is connected to your larger TV solution.

I'm not even sure playing time in the exhibition games is a reliable indicator of regular season minutes. If I recall correctly, didn't Alex Murphy start each preseason game last year, only to end up near the end of the bench for the rest of the year? I Still think Rasheed is the main guy between the 3 of them, but I guess we'll find out.

I agree that it'll be Rasheed. If it's not though, wouldn't it be a good sign that Andre or Matt is able to 'beat out' a returning starter from a really really good '12-'13 team? (I still believe that Duke would have been a #1 seed--likely the overall #1--and perhaps won the whole thing had Ryan not gotten hurt.) And it's not like Rasheed was a throwaway starter either--he had a key defensive role and carried the team offensively on multiple occasions. If a guy like that has to come off the bench this year, Duke is in for a very good year.

No Rasheed so far. We have seen some good D from both Jones and Dre so far. Jones' caused a turnover, Dre's just became a poke out of bounds. Drury has been outrebounding us a bit. Semi is in, so we'll see how that changes. Interior D has been pretty weak so far. Jabari just got beat by his man for an easy two. Drury leads. Ojeleye has his highlight off of a rebound that was clanging off. It was great! A 3 by Drury. We are down again, this time by 3. I should mention that Semi also got dunked on, but went up and contested it. That was a couple of plays ago, though. We don't look like we have found a way to play a running style, yet.

One note on Semi, he stays in front of people, even from out on the perimeter on a drive, but he needs to be more aggressive. He had good position, but didn't go after the shot on a floater for Drury. We have gotten the lead back, though.

To be fair to Quinn. I think he's doing a little too much to try and get all these new pieces involved. That is my take on his play so far, hence why he may not look as sharp as he did last year. It's also a lot easier to look good when all you have to do is get the ball to Seth who's going to make a 3 or down low to Mason, this offense has a lot more moving pieces that he has to pay attention to.

That may be why we are seeing Thornton, too. I say that, but Cook hasn't been the problem (he did get the run-out basket). I think our problem is we aren't closing on the interior (you can't stay in front of your man AND miss the angle when there is nobody behind your man).

We need to do it by the 12th.

Good play from Cook right now on both ends. He isn't the problem. The interior seems to be struggling. In comes Plumlee.

I did not expect a team that was, at the most, 6'7 to dominate us on the inside. They are getting all of the easy points they can grab off of put-backs and just passes to the interior. Time or K to light a fire at halftime. The half can't end fast enough for me. I want redemption.

A good lesson on the value of ball movement. The ball never stops for drury and consequently, they are getting a ton of open looks. Every shot for Duke is contested and that says more about Dukes lack of ball movement rather than Drury's defensive effort.

K has been known to remove locker room furniture and names from lockers after remarkably poor performances in the past (well, once or twice perhaps). The need to re-paint a locker room after a half-time blistering by the coach is merely sports jargon.
