Portions of Duke press release.

"Following Duke’s 13-10 road win over No. 16 Virginia Tech Saturday in Blacksburg, Va., the Blue Devils were named Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week as selected by members of the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).

Duke improved to 6-2 overall and 2-2 in the ACC following the victory, earning the Blue Devils bowl eligibility for the second straight season. Duke has now won four games in a row and is 3-0 on the road this season.

Led by Walter Camp Foundation National Player of the Week Kelby Brown, Duke’s defense held the Hokies to a season-low matching 10 points while shutting out Virginia Tech in the first half. Duke jumped out to a 13-0 lead and held off a late Virginia Tech charge to win in Blacksburg for the first time in school history, defeat a top-25 team for the first time since 1994 and win against a ranked team on the road for the first time since 1971.

Duke has earned FWAA National Team of the Week honors in back-to-back seasons, having received the award after defeating North Carolina 33-30 on Oct. 20, 2012. The Blue Devils also received the inaugural National Team of the Week award on Aug. 31, 2002."

That's GREAT!!! Makes me one happy camper (in addition to the DETROIT LIONS making their spectacular comeback).

Maybe some of the board bellyaching and whining about rest rooms, stadium appearance and attendance will be quelled for a while.

Note that the press release references August 31, 2002. That was the date Duke beat East Carolina, to end a 23-game losing streak.

A stark reminder of how far down was this program inherited by Cutcliffe. Just beating somebody, anybody was a noteworthy event.
