The SEC has 1/3 of the top 24 teams in this week's AP rankings:

However, one could view the poll as evidence to the contrary, with the ACC placing 3 teams in the top 10. Well, Clemson, FSU and Miami ... We could argue they don't pay their players as much as SEC schools.

That's amusing. While anecdotally true, what this week's poll does prove is that there is already a college football playoff. We just call it something different right now - the SEC regular season.
