Going on this week at Nicklaus's Muirfield Village course in Dublin, Ohio.
The US has a slight lead over the world team (3 1/2 to 2 1/2), but at one team it led in all six matches. Two main impressions of the first round: First, there were a ton of birdies and at least one eagle in the six matches. Second, my heart goes out to 20YO Jordan Spieth, a Captain's Choice for the team, who hit two awful shots on the 17th and 18th hole, when his team was two-up with two to play. Fortunately for Jordan and the US, playing partner Steve Stricker made a difficult up-and-down for par on the 18th, and the US team won one-up.
Today's matches are so-called two ball, which most people call "alternate shot," and begin at 1 ET on the Golf Channel.
