I stumbled across this trailer on youtube:

http://fox13now.com/2013/09/14/viral-video-modern-dramatic-trailer-for-monty-python-and-the-holy-grail/

It's a trailer for the old Monty Python and the Holy Grail .... but making the classic farce look like something by Michael Bay or Jerry Bruckheimer.

It's hilarious (as well as a good reminder of how misleading a trailer can be).

Plus, it reminds me of one of the funniest movies of all time:

It's just a flesh wound

I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!

Bring out your dead

She's beautiful, she's rich, she's got huge...tracts of land.

That was awesome! Whoever did it was masterful.

You're in terrible peril! Oh come on. Let me have a little bit of peril!

I agree that was awesome. Now I need to watch the movie again.

There is a 100% chance this thread devolves into a Holy Grail quote-fest... and I am perfectly fine with that!

As an aside, my all-time favorite faux trailer is the one that turns The Shining into a rom com.

Two issues with the trailer:

1. I'm so trained to hear the man ask the third question that I just said, 'What is your favorite color?!' out loud.

2. Gilliam gets no love in the starring credits for his brilliant portrayal of Patsy! More love for the American Python!

Jason, that Shining trailer is fabulous ... is there a site where we can find more of them?

(and I'd LOVE to seeHoly Grail quotathon)

I was just trying to refresh my memory at the IMDB when I saw something hilarious. For every film listed, they list the three most asked questions -- technical questions. For Holy Grail, the three questions are: What's the difference between the theatrical and the extended version ... How much sex, violence and profanity does it contain ... What is the airspeed velocity of an African sparrow.

"Where did you get two coconuts?"

Are you trying to tell me that coconuts are mi-grate-ory?

We are talking about a film that has the single greatest opening credits in the history of movies!

Okay, I found this recut of Mary Poppins as a horror movie:

And, Jason, thanks for the opening credits of Holy Grail ... as many times as I had seen it before, I never noticed who signed the legal disclaimer.

If we built this large, wooden badger . . . .

For the next trailer would somebody please mark the parts of the trailer that are funny. My trailer reader fuzzies up every frame, and I am unable to detect the innate humor there. http://crazietalk.net/ourhouse/images/smilies/106.gif

I'm with Jarhead on the inability to see the humor in the linked parody trailer.

Here's the original (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhRUe-gz690) It is clearly funny.

Yeah, there was some humor in that. I especially liked Arthur's invisible horse. I hope the stunt man that played the black night is okay.

Actually, John Cleese was the Black Knight (until the very end, when they used a midget to simulate the legless Knight)
