The Barclays tournament, hard by the Statue of Liberty at the edge of NY harbor, is the first stop on the FedEx Cup playoff, which will culminate in a few weeks with the Tour Championship among the top 30 players at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. The Barclays feature the top 125 players on the tour standings.

Streels is -4 thru the 15th hole of the second round, after a lengthy weather delay yesterday. He stands T-24. His FedEx points began at #13 and project to end at #12.

He stands to advance easily to the next round, the Deutsche Bank in Boston, which will take the top 100 players.

Go, Kevin!

Streels was above par for the only time all week, closing with a 73 (+2), and finished T-18 at -5. His FedEx ranking moved up one spot from 13 to 12, ensuring a place in next week's Deutsche Bank tournament in Boston and -- almost certainly -- beyond that.

Nice to see Streelman having a good season.

sage or others -- is he the most successful Duke golfer since Mike Souchak and Art Wall, Jr.?

Although there were may have been some Duke players who made a splash on the PGA Tour in the 1970s and 1980s, none come to mind. Kevin and Joe Ogilvie (who got his tour card in 1999) are comparable, although Kevin's career accomplishments have been in one-half as many tournaments. Here is a table of comparative stats. Kevin is on track to have a really good year in 2013.
