Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski will receive the Nell and John Wooden Leadership in Coaching Award, an annual honor given in memory of legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden.

Former Duke standouts Tommy Amaker and Grant Hill as well as Phil Chenier and Paul "Red" Jenkins will be inducted into the Washington Metropolitan Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the ceremonies. Other notables expected to attend include Morgan Wootten, Kevin Grevey, Mike Brey and Danny Ferry

"An Evening with the Legends of the Game" will take place at 6 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington. The evening will include dinner, awards presentations and a silent auction.

Congrats to Coach K. He deserves the accolades that roll in, and I'm happy for him here.

But the fact that Cal received this award last year (the first year it was awarded) makes this feel kind of like sloppy seconds. To paraphrase Groucho Marx: You wouldn't necessarily want to belong to a club that would have him as the inaugural member.
