A number of Duke recruits will be in action tonight in the 3rd place game and finals of the AdidasNations event from Long Beach, CA, which will be televised by ESPNU. In the 3rd place game (7 PM Eastern) the 2015 "Red" team will take the court. This squad features stud backcourt player Malik Newman out of Mississippi, who some rank as the #1 overall player in the Class of 2015 class at this point, along with 6'5" SG Charles Matthews out of Chicago and Las Vegas big man Stephen Zimmerman. However, be forewarned that the availability of Newman and Matthews is in doubt. Newman strained his hip and his groin the other night and didn't play at all in the Sunday action and Matthews also tweaked his hip and didn't play in the Sunday evening game.

The finals of the event (9 PM Eastern) are to follow. There the 2014 "Red" team, which has really been dominant this whole weekend, will face the 2014 "Blue." The Red's feature an almost unfair embarrassment of riches: their best 5 consists of Jahlil Okafor, Kavon Looney, Justise Winslow, Stanley Johnson, and Jaquan Lyle, who is a bigtime shooting guard out of Indiana who has already committed to Louisville. The three Duke recruits on this team have all been very, very impressive this weekend.

Their opponents feature Texas big man Myles Turner, who is set to trim his list possibly as early as this week after this event is over. Former Duke recruits Trey Lyles and Theo Pinson are on this squad too. Bigtime point guard Emmanuel Mudiay was supposed to be on this team as well, but he's hurt and hasn't played all weekend. His presence would have really added something to this matchup. Should be a good one anyway. The games ultimately mean nothing, but you'd never know it by how hard these kids play every time out.
