As there is not much new news in early August, I thought that I would share a video analyzing just how close we were to losing the 2010 Championship Game.

Would love to see some sports science analysis on the illegal screen Matt Howard set on Singler to allow Heyward to get such a good look.

They could do one of these on nearly every missed shot during the course of the game.

Totally agree! I agree about the illegal screen too!

Me too. Every time I see that last play, I always see Kyle getting laid out. What if he got hurt? And the shot goes in? Then what? I really hope that some media guy, sports science guy, referees, take a look at that. Yeah... I know... pipe dream. And since the shot didn't go in, Duke wins. But what if Kyle dud get hurt anyway... I'm just glad that EVERYTHING worked out

Yeah, there was a foul on the play before the shot. I know that the video is very biased against us, but it is still interesting. I know that my heart stopped beating for a second or two when that ball was in the air.

I actually thought back to a game I had watched in the Big Ten Tournament a few weeks before where someone from Ohio State made an almost identical shot to beat Michigan.

The only bad (relatively speaking) part was that I was sick and had lost my voice on the day of the game against West Virginia, so I could barely scream! It figures that the one time I lost my voice in my whole life was right then.

Aside from being too hard, too high, and offline, it was a dead solid perfect shot.

You mean the screen or the shot on goal?

Horseshoes and hand grenades I think the saying goes. Close gets you a nice certificate of participation suitable for framing...or hanging when known by its alternate name the Helms Trophy

I'd reach for some Strick's... (http://www.ncagr.gov/ncproducts/ShowSite.asp?ID=101243)

It was Evan Turner, the eventual #2 pick in the 2010 NBA draft.

Oddly, I was at the game and wasn't nervous at all, never thought the thing had a chance. It was only on replay that I realized how close it came to going in.

Same for me. It wasn't until I got back to the hotel and saw the replay, the one from under the basket, that I realized how close it was to going in.

I was watching on tv with a big group and blurted "It's long" which is weird because I can't remember if I actually thought it was or if I just really wanted it to be. Then my heart stopped for a millionth of a second when it actually caught rim after the backboard. Then hugs and tears. What a moment!
