I found out about it from this site this morning, but chose to contact DBR before posting it and ask if it would be prudent or not, as I did not want to draw attention to it, no matter what the accuracy or inaccuracy of the situation:

I would rather that this would not have become a topic on the board because the haters will just pick it up and it will give them more to hate us about-------whether there is any truth to it or not. So, that's why I posted it above, since the cat is now out of the bag.

I am disappointed in DBR that no one got back to me on this during the many hours that went by prior to the original post on this thread, as I suggested that DBR check it out and run it down, as best they could, as far as accuracy is concerned. Then they could have posted it in the Headlines section explaining the falsehoods, etc. prior to someone else on the board, or on another board outside of DBR, just sticking it out there for the haters.

I thought that it was a lot more important to have respect for our program first, rather than to have a "scoop", so to speak.:( So much for that.

The R in the contract starts with a circle loop, first actually down and to the left then up to the right. However, all of his signatures on the web indicate a straight up and to the right line for the R in Redick.

THUS, it would appear this contact is a FAKE.

While we're looking into it, here are our thoughts:

Deadspin isn't exactly a "mainstream media outlet." They're not exactly in the business of getting to the bottom of the facts. Ms. Lopez seems to have quite the history with other NBA players and has been accused of lying before. That leaves JJ as the only other party in this story, and as a Duke Basketball alumnus, we will give his tweets the full benefit of the doubt:

"I'd like to respond to the outrageous, false and malicious media reports regarding a prior relationship between myself and V Lopez in 2007-"
"Ms Lopez was not and has never been pregnant with a child fathered by me."
"And Ms. Lopez did not and has never terminated a pregnancy of a child fathered by me."
"Continued attention to these lies is severely damaging to myself and my family. Thank you."

We'll take him at face value and discontinue the attention to the story and close this thread unless there is found to be more to the story.
