Late first half, Duke has a 5-4 lead against the Mids. Navy keeper Annie Foky having a big game so far.

Duke defense held the Mids' high-powered offense (featuring three 50-goal scorers) off the board for the last 20 minutes of the half.

Duke got possession with three minutes to go, held for one, and Smesko found Trimble alone on the crease with 12 seconds left.

So far, so good.

Duke defense putting on a clinic; Navy scoreless for 37 minutes.

Smesko, who was invisible against Princeton, has two goals and two assists.

Looking good at this point.

Navy finally broke its scoring drought after 42 minutes on an FP, but Duke dominated possession and Smesko completed the hat trick with 37 seconds left.

The difference in quality between the ACC and the Patriot League was apparent throughout.

Duke gets the winner of Maryland vs. Stony Brook in the quarterfinals. Right now, Maryland is up six with less than ten minutes to go.

No idea how Navy put up 12 against Northwestern. They couldn't dodge against us, and when they did get a step our slide-and-recover work was fabulous.

Good question. Seems likely the score of that Navy loss led to their being higher-ranked, and even more higher-seeded, than perhaps they should have been. Very happy the Duke women took control.
