No thread? Remember one in past years.
Is it passe? Jumped the shark?
I used to watch ... had not seen an episode this year. Tuned in tonight. Doesn't seem so great.

Mrs. Jarhead has kept me informed on this. The judges are idiots, and all of them should be fired. The ratings are way down, and the talent is very weak. The remaining four contestants, all young women, (what happened to the guys?) have potential. The show does not, have potential, that is, but it will probably linger like some old soap operas, or like Diane Sawyer. That part's my opinion.

I don't watch it much. I do think the gals are fine. However the judges are bad. Mariah Carey is a trainwreck as a judge. In the past you could watch and compare your take on the performance with the judges. Now I want to leave the room when they open their mouth.

I agree about the judges. The show has not been the same since Simon Cowell left. I rarely watch any more. Nicki Minaj is trainwreck #2.

So...who's #1?
I too agree, although Keith Urban is the best of the lot, and is actually pretty likeable.
I now prefer The Voice as background noise while I'm doing something more important. Better judges - more likeable, better interactions with each other and really good personalities. And I like the "coaching" format.

On September of 1935, this audition application was submitted by Frank Sinatra to the Major Bowes Amateur Hour:

The rest is history. Radio and TV have been trying ever since to equal the Amateur Hour with varying degrees of success. All attempts have or should fail, but not because of the talent. That has been a huge success. Like all reality shows the show producers fail.

I watched the 4 girls perform, and all of them are very good!!! But when it comes time for the judges comments....... I just want to Mute the TV. Even Ryan Seacrest said the judges comments were taking to long. (Mainly, Nicki).
I also like Keith Urban!
But the show has lost many viewers, since Simon Cowell left, along with Paula.
AI needs to bring back Jennifer Lopez!!! And SIMON!!!
Clearly this season is about the war between the Diva Judges.......... Mariah and Nicki.

Candace won the American Idol 2013 over Kree. Candace was clearly the best singer all season! She performed a duet with Jennifer Hudson, that was unbelievable!!!!
America got it right!!
Judge Randy Jackson announced last week, he was leaving American Idol.

I saw that a season AI had passed without the least bit of curiosity on my part, so checked out this thread for the first time. Your mention of Diane Sawyer cracked me up. Truth!

Judge Randy Jackson announced last week, he was leaving American Idol.He will be replaced with a doll that says "In it to win it!" when you pull the string. This is a major upgrade and is expected to send ratings through the roof.
