"GREENSBORO, N.C.—Seven Atlantic Coast Conference teams have earned bids to the 2013 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships, the NCAA Women’s Golf Selection Committee announced this evening on its annual selection show.
The seven regional invitations ties the league’s previous best originally set in 2006 and matched in 2007, 2010 and 2012.
All seven ACC schools will begin NCAA Regional play on May 9.
Duke, which captured its second straight ACC Championship a week ago in Greensboro, was named the No. 1 seed in the Central Regional, which will be hosted by the University of Oklahoma in at the Jimmie Austin Oklahoma University Golf Club in Norman. Oklahoma. The Blue Devils, ranked third nationally in this week’s Golfweek.com rankings, will be joined in Norman by two other ACC schools in 20th-ranked NC State and 37th-ranked Wake Forest. 8th in the Central Regional, while the Demon Deacons are the 14th seed.
Virginia, ranked 14th nationally, and North Carolina, ranked 15th, will both play in the NCAA East Regional, which will be hosted by Auburn University in Auburn, Ala. The Tar Heels are seeded fourth in the Regional with the Cavaliers seeded fifth.
Florida State and Miami both were selected to play in the NCAA West Regional, which is hosted by Stanford University on the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif. The Seminoles are ranked 40th nationally, with the Hurricanes ranked 52nd.
Additionally, Boston College freshman Isabel Southard of Sharon, Mass., was chosen to participate as an individual in the East Regional at Auburn.
A total of eight teams and two individuals from each Regional will advance to the NCAA National Championship, which will be held May 21-24 at the University of Georgia Course in Athens, Ga."
