The Hoos ran off four unanswered goals midway through the first half, and Duke was never able to get back in it. Each time they cut the lead to two, the Hoos answered.

Duke never matched Virginia's intensity. The Hoos won almost every hustle play, dominating ground balls and caused turnovers.

Don't understand the Duke game plan. Kerrin Maurer was played on the crease, and Virginia made her disappear. Kelci Smesko had a nice game, scoring two goals including one on a drive from X followed by a sweet inside roll, but she is not yet nearly the feeder from behind that Maurer is.

With the loss, Duke's chances of a top-eight seed pretty much evaporate, and they will have to go on the road for the first and second rounds of the NCAA tournament.

Very disappointing loss.

It would seem this team has really limped to the end of this season, with the road loss to BC, the really punishing loss at the hands of Northwestern, and this loss to UVA (as well as a couple of victories over much weaker teams)--after handily beating UVA and taking highly ranked UNC to overtime at the end of March. Have there been injuries or other things going on that would account for this?
