Not sure if anyone outside of NC knows this exists. If it is a poll within NC- then I think we lose 80% to 20%.

Not every poll is worth skewing. This one comes from the CBS affiliate in Charlotte. That's Chapel Hill West. What's the point? Duke would be lucky to get 20%.

Duke is at 27% with only 959 total votes cast. 11% hate both Duke and UNC.

Still stupid, but not so much:

1. Who is America's team? The main contender for this Dallas Cowboyesque question would be Kentucky, I think. Indiana, UCLA, Kansas, and UNC are long shots.
2. Who is the most hated team? UNC should win this, but they won't.

Not much of a legit poll when you consider all those who attended "Cheater U" will certainly vote for their fellow "Cheaters"!

Duke typically is the most mentioned team when pollsters ask the general public their favorite team AND least favorite. I believe Duke had been the most favorite team 9 out of the last 11 seasons (according to Harris) with UNC, Ohio State, Kentucky, and Michigan up there.

But, yes, agree that a poll on a Charlotte newspaper site doesn't mean much.

Why? There's nothing illogical at all about one team being both the "most favorited" and most hated in a sport with 350 teams. In fact, I'd be really surprised if Duke wasn't in the top 3 in both categories. I'm sure we could come up with all sorts of examples in other sports, music, film, politics, etc of people that are both loved and hated by large segments of the public.
