Remembering last year's 11-10 nail-biter against the Red Foxes, and considering their 5-0 start this season, I had extra Maalox and Lisinopril on hand for tonight's game. Turned out to not be needed.
Duke shredded Marist's zone defense with crisp ball movement early, racing out to a 7-2 lead early in the second quarter. Marist switched to man after a time out, and promptly shut the Blue Devils down for over 10 minutes while getting four of their own to make it 7-6. A superb individual effort from Dave Lawson and a transition goal by Jordan Wolf made it 9-6 at the half, and Duke's offense exploded for ten more in the second half.
Wolf equaled his career high of seven points on four goals and three assists, while Josh Dionne contributed four goals Case Matheis went off for a career high six points on three and three. Wolf leads Duke with 25 goals on the season.
Brendan Fowler had another dominant game at the faceoff dot, going 20-for-26 and adding 13 ground balls. Kyle Turri had eight saves and Luke Aaron came up with the save of the night in late relief.
Next up is Georgetown at Koskinen at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday.
