I was browsing reddit.com/r/collegebasketball (http://www.reddit.com/r/CollegeBasketball/) and I found the following two interesting links:

- In Duke road losses over the last ten years, opposing fans have stormed the court in 80.6% of them. That's 25 out of 31 road losses, the opposing team storms the court against Duke. From the Wall Street Journal. (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323596204578241900883447458.html)

- Duke is the #2 team (behind UNC) in total minutes played in the NBA by former players over the last 10 years. In fact, the ACC is the number 1 conference (by a LOT) for NBA minutes. Here's a link to the blog post (http://mhermher.blogspot.com/2013/01/you-may-be-familiar-with-earlier-post-i.html)complete with graphs (so it has to be accurate, right?).

I'm not sure which link was more interesting to me. I would love to see if there is any other team that gets the court stormed in road losses as frequently. The second link could be an excellent tool in recruiting. I think there is still an impression out there that Duke doesn't send players to the NBA (or if they do, they don't play). If these graphs are accurate, it isn't even close to being true.

Odd I didn't remember the Ohio State L NOT ending in a court storming. I was always under the assumption that all of the Ls that didn't end in a court storming were to UNC.

I hope the first link remains true for a long time. I remember back in 2009 we played Wake (when Wake had Teague and company) in Winston-Salem. The fans stormed the court when they won (after an almost miraculous Gerald Henderson led comeback fell short with a questionable traveling violation) . . . even though Wake was favored and was ranked higher. As long as opposing fan bases consider a win against Duke, regardless of the circumstances, to be a big enough deal to storm the court, it means Duke is still at or near the top of the college basketball world. I'll only be worried if the fans stop caring when they beat us.

I was at that game. Weren't we ranked #1 at the time? If so I kind of get it, although IIRC wake was also in the top 5.

There have definitely been times when I thought it was ridiculous though. Sometimes you gotta act like you've been there, you know? Seth Greenberg sobbing with his daughters a few years back was one of the most unintentionally hilarious things I can recall seeing.

You are totally correct. I misremembered our ranking for that game. Still, Wake was #6 and had recently knocked off #1 UNC. They were also still favored to win by Vegas. However, I will give them a bit of a pass.

+1 to Greenberg sobbing. That was a little strange . . . and hilarious.

The trend is pretty good, since Carolina was #1 for the first 4 years of that survey, and Duke was outside the top 5. For the last 8 years, we haven't been outside the top 3 and were #1 in 2005, 2007, and 2012.
