Portions of Duke press release

"Duke sophomore Quinn Cook was named a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award as one of the top point guards in the nation. Cook is one of 20 finalists, as selected by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, and one of three ACC players on the list.

With an average of 11.4 points and 6.1 assists per game, Cook has been the director of a Duke offense that is outscoring opponents by more than 19 points per game. A native of Washington, D.C., Cook has already posted two double-digit assist games, including a career-high 14 helpers in an 80-62 win over Wake Forest.

A 6-1, 175-pound product of Oak Hill Academy, Cook has played a key role in Duke’s 15-0 start and is coming off of a career-best 27-point, five-rebound, five-assist, four-steal outing in a 68-40 win against Clemson. Defensively, he leads the team with 29 steals and has helped Duke hold its opponents to 60.3 points per game and a .295 (72-of-244) shooting percentage from three-point range.

Cook is on pace to become only the fifth player in school history to average at least 10.0 points and 6.0 assists per game, joining a list of Duke point guards that includes Chris Duhon, Dick Groat, Bobby Hurley and Jason Williams.

The current list of 20 finalists for the 2013 Bob Cousy Award will be narrowed to 10 players in early February and then to five players by early March."

Well deserved. I often forget he's only a sophomore.

As well he should be. He's been absolutely fantastic this year. Glad he's getting the recognition he deserves for an outstanding first half of the season.

What an outrage! How could this be? CBS didn't even project Quinn as a top 50 PG coming into the season!

Seriously, though, Quinn has obviously worked hard on his game and it is a pleasure to see him succeed on the national stage. Congrats to him on a great start and here's to hoping he takes that award home (if not this year, then next).
