Five schools with excellent academic reputations played in bowl games....Vanderbilt, Stanford, Rice ,Northwestern and Duke.

Four of them won their games and Duke was moments away from a clean sweep.

Not exactly sure what it means other than it is encouraging to see schools that do stress academics be successful on the grid iron. I am not that naïve to think that these schools will be challenging for a national championship, but it is nice to see.

I assume SG is referring to schools that are not traditional football powerhouses. ND certainly has the academic pedigree to join the other private schools. (I think they are private, at least).
