Duke press release

"Former Duke and current Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vincent Rey has been honored by the NFL Players Association with a PULSE Award for his outstanding work in the community.

Rey, along with teammate Michael Johnson, was chosen by the Bengals players for the honor. The pair, along with the other teams' winners, have been invited to submit applications for the Byron “Whizzer” White Award and have received monetary donations for their foundations or a charity of their choice.

A panel of peers select five finalists from the pool of PULSE winners. All finalists receive additional charity donations and one will be named the 2013 Byron “Whizzer” White Award winner and receive an additional $100,000 for his charity. The winner is announced at the NFLPA’s State of the Union press conference at the Super Bowl media center in New Orleans.

Rey lettered four seasons (2006-07-08-09) for the Blue Devils and finished his career with 330 career tackles to rank 11th on the school’s all-time chart for hits. As a co-captain in 2009, he carded second team All-ACC honors and later signed a free agent contract with the Bengals."
