Yahoo is reporting that Indiana's soph forward Austin Etherington broke his kneecap (http://sports.yahoo.com/news/no-1-indiana-loses-etherington-191017405--ncaab.html) in the Central Connecticut game and has had surgery sidelining him for the season.

Tough break for both him and his team.

I hope he can recover from it and come back next year.

Hate to hear that, hope for a full and speedy recovery.

Do not know much about him, or the impact on IU. Hate to hear of kids erring hurt,

Not a significant impact on Indiana.

Etherington, who is a 6'6" Sophomore forward, was averaging less than 7 minutes a game (had only played in 7 of their 9 games, starting in none), and less than 2 points per game against fairly light competition. That made him about number ten in ther rotation/depth chart. So no apparent game impacts going forward.

Basically it would be our equivalent of losing Alex Murphy, although probably even less impact than us losing Murphy.

Sporting News and ESPN sites do not even list Etherington on the roster. IU site lists him as one of 17 roster members. He must have been moved to IR to make room for Jurkin and Perea coming back. I guess transfer rate may increase in next few years.
