I really considered Ryan for mins played as well because we do not have a lot of quality big man depth and I think Mason will foul more and get pulled leaving Ryan out longer. I did not even think of Sheed for steals (I feel stupid now). I also considered Alex for blocks because in the blue/white game he got 3 and in the exhibition game I know he got a couple as well. So why did you pick Sheed for FG%? I tend to shy away from the guards and favor the bigger guys and also guys who don't shoot a lot of 3's.

Just a hunch, I guess. Seems pretty efficient in the way that he can get to the rim. Your line of thinking is definitely correct though. I'd probably go with Mason if not Sheed for FG%.

I really considered Ryan for mins played as well because we do not have a lot of quality big man depth and I think Mason will foul more and get pulled leaving Ryan out longer.
The problem with that theory is that Mason does not foul as much as people think, and he and Ryan are pretty much equal in the foul department. If Ryan leads the team in mpg, it likely will not be because Mason fouling more than Ryan. Below are the stats from last year. In fouls per minute, Mason and Ryan were almost dead even. I threw in the stats from the other two guys that played a lot of minutes last year as well.
Player Games Minutes PF DQ PFG PFM
Mason 34 964 86 1 2.52 11.20
Ryan 31 803 71 1 2.29 11.30
Tyler 34 717 95 4 2.79 7.54
Seth 34 1026 73 2 2.14 14.05

There's not much risk taking on my part with these projections, in my opinion. There were only a few that I struggled with. The fact that Mason will get fouled simply by taking a lot of shots in the basket area plus the fact that opponents will want to make him earn his points at the line means that I think Mason is a safe bet to lead in FT attempts. Meanwhile, in terms of 3pt.% and scoring, I think Seth will have just a slightly higher ppg average while Ryan will have a slightly better 3pt.%. Seth will get a few more shots 'cause he'll have the ball in his hands a bit more, but he will also be less selective than Ryan about launching from three point range, so I think Ryan edges Seth on raw percentage but I also predict that Ryan's total attempts from deep will also be a lot lower. As for scoring, Seth wins it with Ryan and Mason behind him in that order. Mason will have the ball in his hands more this season, but this will translate into only a slightly higher point total but a much higher assist total for him. He's always been a good passer. With three years to fully acclimate to college, I think the game will slow down for him enough that his passing ability will be a real asset.
Steals is the other tough one, as I think that there's no doubt that Rasheed will be a pest on defense. The only question I have is whether or not his minutes will be high enough for what I suspect will be the best steal % on the team to compensate for what will probably be at best the 4th most minutes (and quite possibly less). Seth or Quinn wins the battle for most steals if Rasheed doesn't.

Yeah I said in the OP that it was on a per game basis. I guess if there is a tie though the best thing to do is go by season total.

Ah yes, my bad. My students will be shocked to learn that I failed to read the directions thoroughly =).

Here's my take:
Minutes played Kelly
Points Kelly
Rebounds Mason
Assists Quinn
Steals Seth
Blocks Mason
Turnovers Quinn
FT attempts Mason
FG% (Min 75) Kelly
FT% (Min 30) Seth
3pt% (Min 30) Kelly
Shots taken Kelly
My rationale is that Kelly will get more floor time than any of our four guards, and, therefore, will have more scoring opportunities. Mason will have equal oportunities but may have more foul issues.

I'm just not sure how Seth will play or how much he will play with his injury this year. So I did not use him for steals, Ft% and 3pt %. I hope he is 100% as we really need him. GoDuke!

So any surprises on last years team? For me:
1. Quinn Cook took the 3rd most shots but only 6 fewer than Mason. (363 to 369)
2. Quinn Cook had the highest FT% only missing 9 all year (64 of 73)
3. Amile 2nd on the team in FG%
