Longest report of the season. Luckily it should be the one game that we can afford to have these guys on the sideline. Looking forward to some unfamiliar names making the most of an opportunity.

Holy cow! What a long list. I thought all the injuries last week were "just cramps". What's wrong with Kyler Brown's "upper body"? And yeah, this is the one week we might be able to play shorthanded.

With the exception of Foxx, I'm hopeful that we're just being extra cautious this week (and next). August Campbell got hurt against Stanford, but returned, for example, and Cut said on Tuesday that we didn't have any serious injuries. Hopefully we'll return a few guys against Wake.

Before the season, safety was the deepest position on the team. Now:

Taylor Sowell (a very experienced backup) is out for the year
Jeremy Cash (a stud transfer from Ohio State) was refused a waiver and must sit out the season

Jordan Byas (a senior starter) suffered a knee injury, underwent surgery and is going to miss a bunch of the season
August Campbell (a junior starter) was hurt at Stanford and will be out this week

Anthony Young-Wiseman (a very good junior backup) has been banged up and in and out of the lineup all fall
Corbin McCarthy (a very talented true freshman) was hurt at Stanford and will be out this week

Wow, when we suffered a few hits at WR, there were some who wondered about moving Brandon Braxton back from safety to wide receiver ... but now we're in more dire need at safety. We play three safeties at a time ... right now, the only two safeties from the preseason two-deep who are healthy are Braxton and Walt Canty. I think Young-Wiseman can play.

Cut's response at Stanford was to move Ross Cockrell -- our best corner -- to safety and use backcup corner Tony Foster in Cockrell's CB spot. Wow ... I hope we get Campbell and McCarthy back soon ... and Byas before too long.

That is not an encouraging list.

Gotta dig deep, knock out a W, and keep moving forward.

Ripped up, Tore up, Given Hell, Duke!

Not sure if I should laugh or cry at that. Very clever.

(Can't spork at this time though -- gotta spread some more I guess)

Time to start getting the game face on. Let's Go Duke!!
