I'm going and I can't wait. Seems like this should be the ultimate good time.

i think boateng should be...

i remember when he transferred some people said he might go to georgia tech, and i was very eager to be able to root against him. i guess this will have to do.

Boateng will be eligible, although I expect us to play Illinois. But if we get ASU at least we will have practiced against the offense the day before. I'll be in Maui.

I won't make it this year, but I went ten years ago with a group of friends and relatives. We had a blast! I even got my mother into a tourist submarine!

I think it was about the last year they gave tickets to everyone for the whole thing, and actually oversold it by an enormous amount. They figured you'd watch your team then go to the beach.

Duke won the first semi, and the Kentucky-Arizona game (prior year's title rematch) was next. The Duke contingent stayed put, and a lot of KY and AZ fans (though it seemed mostly KY; they travel well) were outside holding useless tickets through most of the first half. They squeezed them everywhere they could, and if you went out to get a drink, you couldn't get back in.

Enjoy!

Maui is worth it for its own sake. Plus, if you lose, you can go up the mountain to the winery. While they make some OK wine there, they also make wine friom pineapple. That is for fans whose teams lose big.

Been there. Five stars pleasant place, and the wine isn't bad either. Every time we go to Maui we go to to the winery and to Hana.

The most exhiliarating option is the ride down the volcano.
Here's a description from one company's link.
The Sunrise Journey is the most popular bicycle tour. Your tour begins at the House of the Sun Visitor Center where you receive a comprehensive safety briefing. The certified tour guides provide you with a history of Haleakala, its geology and an explanation of rare plants and animals only found on Maui. You are then escorted by your mountain guides to the rim of the crater to view sunrise at 10,000 feet. Following sunrise you will be expertly fitted to your bicycle and begin your 38-mile bike ride down the slopes of Haleakala - the worlds largest dormant volcano. Along the way your tour guides will make several stops pointing out scenic points of interest. Take a walking tour of Makawao a 1900 era vintage upcountry community. The ride of a lifetime continues down to the Pacific Ocean ending at Baldwin Beach in Paia. All trips include round trip transportation, Columbia Sportswear windbreaker pants and jacket, gloves, helmet and state-of-the-art volcano chrome cruiser bikes. Restrictions- Must be able to ride bicycle, must not be pregnant, must be at least 5 foot tall and over 12 years old. Must wear closed toed shoes.

The next best bet is to take a helicopter ride.

FYI, the ID is where I sit.

Was not there for the Maui basketball tournament, but did tkae the mountain bike ride. Rarely had to peddle, just coast, steer and brake, bikes having specially equipped brakes. Sunrise was magnificent too.

Spouse opted for the spa instead.

Took the helicopter ride one way and the van ride back, the latter being perhaps more of an adventrure as the driver came ever so close to the ledge that went down quite a spell, while turning her head quite a bit to talk to passengers.

I loved all of my visits to Hawaii (...well, just four). The bikeride down Diamond Head on Oahu ain't shabby either. And the chopper on Lanai, through the "mini-grand-canyon" and over the Napali coast is rather wonderful as well.

Maui is wonderful east to west -- and yes, Hana is fabulous. (almost as magical as all of Nova Scotia).

Nova Scotia really is fabulous -- far superior to PEI IMHO. The last time we were there (by motorhome) we had a car trailer with a 1965 MGB on it. We drove that MGB, top down almost continually, all over Nova Scotia. It was spectacular, and the people were great. We went to Sunday services at a Presbyterian church in Baddeck where the choir numbered two and the congregation (including us) numbered four. We took a full day to drive the Cape Breton trail, starting and ending the day with jackets and gloves, but wearing Tees and shorts at midday, lunching on lobster overlooking the ocean. It doesn't get a whole lot better than that. We were there nearly three weeks, and we are ready to go back. We planned to go this summer (by motorhome, but not with an MG), but my wife had a partial knee replacement in June. She is doing great, but the doctor doesn't want her to take a trip so far from home this summer.
End of travelogue!
