Former Atlanta Hawk Dan Roundfield has drowned (http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/08/07/former-hawks-all-star-dan-roundfield-drowned/) while on vacation with his family in Aruba. Apparently his wife was in trouble in the water and when he went in to save her, he drowned.
Roundfield was never a big star in the league, but he was always one of my favorite Hawks. He was the classic workman NBA player who went out and busted his tail every minute of the game, often doing the less glamorous stuff like rebounding and playing defense. A fixture on the NBA's All-Defensive teams of the early 1980s, for much of his career you could book him for 16-18 points per game and 10-11 rebounds per game. He was anything but flashy and, even before Sportscenter, he never would have ended up making a Top Play. He just worked darn hard and did all the little things right.
