Pitino sounds serious, he makes a good case for Jay:

"I would take a portion of the Syracuse and Pittsburgh money [each school paid the Big East $7.5 million to join the ACC in 2013], give him a 5-year contract and pay him 2 million per year. He has charisma, knows T.V., has a legal background, outstanding presence, and a creative thinker. He would be a grand slam."

I know Jay is a big guy, but wouldn't Shaq be a better commissioner for the Big Eat?

I nominate Sir Charles! Certainly they can outbid Weight Watchers for his services.

I can't imagine Jay or someone of his caliber wanting to head an organization in decline and likely with an increasingly bleak future.

Perhaps someone with a sentimental attachment to the Big East would want the job.

Pitino proposed $10 mil over 5 years. How much does ESPN pay?

i think having a college basketball "czar" would be a good thing.......someone to wave his hand and make decisions immediately without a lot of committee meetings.......(like banning the unsafe floor stickers as soon as they were discovered making the players slip)

i would probably regret this initiative at least once or twice, but i'm pretty sure that jay would make things better...

Significantly less I'm sure.

Per Bilas tweet, " I will accept no position below 'Emperor of the Western Hemisphere.'. Lowly positions can't take my SWAG"

(guess he's gotta go to work)
