Relayed to me from a friend of mine...Nolan Smith took a blow to the head during the Blazers' summer league game against the Rockets today. He didn't lose consciousness, but was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons. Kills me to see him go down like that, but hopefully he's okay and back to 100% soon.

Thanks for posting this D. Apparently they took him off the court strapped to the stretcher as a precaution. Given the well known concussion he suffered at Maryland, that was probably a good idea. Hopefully there was no concussion tonight. Nolan had like 27 points+ before he went down by the way.

Praying for a speedy recovery!

Sports Illustrated is reporting that his CT scan was negative and he is being released from the hospital.

Thanks for that, there are some really great quotes in there from his teammates. Just from a getting-back-to-basketball standpoint, this was certainly encouraging:

In a previous summer league event, Ibekwe said, he endured the same thing as Smith after Dragic's brother -- Gorgan -- elbowed Ibekwe on a drive to the hoop.

Like Smith, Ibekwe left the court on a stretcher and was taken to a local hospital.

...and he seems to be completely and fully recovered, which is encouraging. But you can tell how much his teammates love him, even his most direct competitors:

It hurts my heart to see him go down because I know how hard he works.I know how good of a guy he is. You never want to see one of your soldiers go down... ...We've come in and we've competed for the same position and he's treated me like we're not doing that. Away from the court, we've been like brothers. I really have a lot of love for him as a person away from the floor. So I hope he's all right.

(Watching) something like that -- that's unexplainable, man. I'm just praying for him. My whole team is praying for him. I'm going to go find out where he is and go visit him or something.

Wesley Matthews bee-lined to Smith after the play and remained close to the second-year guard throughout the ordeal.

WOW... first time I saw the incident in the link above. Watching Nolan going off on the stretcher immobilized made me VERY sad. I'm SO glad he's apparently OK... for now, at least, and forever, I hope.

Nolan seems to be all good. no word on how severe the concussion is, but it sounds like a minor, despite all the precautions taken when he went down.
