Awesome, thanks for the link. This is what the team needs so badly to compete in both recruiting and on the field. Big donations, similar to the 10 mil that got us the indoor field.

Not quite. $250,000 is earmarked for the football team, which is 1/4 of endowing a scholarship, but it doesn't even say it's doing that. $3million is for South Carolina students, which I take to mean in the general student body, not football players.

Of the bequest, $3 million will be used to establish a named scholarship fund to support students from South Carolina. The remaining $250,000 from Gregory’s estate will provide unrestricted support to the football team.

No matter how the money is distributed, Art's generosity in giving to Duke is a reflection of the kind of person he was. What a great way to create something of a legacy of opportunity.

I absolutely agree with that. Didn't mean to say or imply otherwise!

I tried to edit my post to reflect this, but the 15 minute time limit expired.

True, I think I skimmed too quickly while on hold. Still, great news!

What a wonderful legacy for my good friend Arthur. Nobody loved Duke more than Art, and nobody hated Carolina more even though his best golfing buddy was a Tar Heel. He ususally referred to them as 'those sons of bithches!" . Rest in peace, old friend, there are better days ahead for the football team.
