The DBR headline Suliamon Makes Cut is correct but the write-up implies that he made the final team. According to the usabasketball link below, 14 finalists have been chosen and the the final cut will likely happen on Monday before they leave for the U18 tournament.

In addition, the site has video of Suliamon and a nice article on Jake Layman (Maryland freshman).

Just out of curiosityl, who has the final say in the picks? Does K get involves since he is the coach and I guess you would say head coach of the USA basketball program overall, or is it done by the individual teams coaches or some other mixture of folks? I don't know how it works. I will read the article now and if the answer is in there then please excuse me for being backwards.

Ok, nevermind, it clearly states that the committee makes the pick and names the committee, btw Ole Roy is on it, I just wonder if that will influence the selection of Britt and James? Hey! I have to get a Roy did in some how....

I still wonder if K is envolved even if it is in a consulting manner.... but I will say it is a pretty impressive line up of coaches on that team and committee, and as much as I bust on Roy, he does have a talent for spotting talent... so he probably is a good choice for that position, but please do not let him be on the bench during a game, please!!

Highly rated prospect Julius Randle made the team, while another Duke target, Austin Nichols from Tennessee, was one of the final cuts.

Just a heads up....

Since Joel James signed with UNC last fall he has put in the work to transform his body from the 300+ weight he was carrying when he signed. He's now at 6'11 255lbs.
He's been impressing many coaches and scouts with his energy and touch around the basket. Just making the final 14 cut for the U18 team is impressive to me considering his ranking about this time last year. (I have not seen him play, yet).

Here's a recent photo he put out to prove some doubters wrong...

Interesting. If James can be a positive contributor as a freshman, UNC may actually be a top 10 team. Certainly something to keep an eye on.

Are you posting pictures of dudes taken in the bath rooms? Isn't that like breaking several man rules at once? I mean at Cameron we don't make eye contact and we don't speak....

I doubt K would have any consulting role in this--he has enough on his plate getting ready for the Olympics. As for bench coaching, fear not--Roy is not involved there. The coaches for the U18 team are Billy Donovan, Mark Few, and Shaka Smart.

Any online broadcast of these (I presume the U18 games are not generally televised)?

I cannot find any intentions of online broadcast coverage but live stats are usually available here:

What's the chances our boy Rasheed is in the Starting 5 at the tip Bob? Any thoughts there?

I haven't come across any articles discussing details of the practice sessions or scrimmages so I do not have a feel for who the starters will be. With the success Rasheed achieved playing strong defense and shooting the 3-ball in the All Star games, I will be shocked if he doesn't see major playing time in Brazil.
