My retirement was official on 1 Aug 2007. I served 30 years and 26 days on active duty in the United States Navy (6 July 77 - 1 Aug 07). The ceremony and party actually took place on 11 May 07.

Congratulations on your retirement. How did you get Bob Hope to attend your party?

on your retirement.

From your postings you and I have different political viewpoints. Your service is greatly appreciated and best of luck in the future, whatever that may be.

Bob,

Thank you so much for your service to our country and enjoy your retirement. What in the world are you going to do with all that free time on your hands? (could I get you interested in learning how to kiteboard??).

thanks again,

Sorry for the belated congratulations. I just noticed your signature line a while ago in another thread. Welcome to the club. My time in the Marine Corps is the part of my life I cherish the most. I trust your Navy career will be the most cherished for you also. Good luck on your future endeavors.

I appreciate all the congratulations and thanks from all of you. I will be remaining in Yokosuka, Japan, and working as a Project Manager at the U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Facility Pacific. My job consists of planning and managing communications/computer systems installations/upgrades aboard U.S. Navy ships assigned to the SEVENTH Fleet. This is a United States Civil Service position so even though I'm retired from active duty I remain employed with the Department of the Navy.

Master Chief,

For this thread only, we'll be Navy retirees. I congratulate you on your thirty-years service and on all that it means -- past, present, and future -- to our Navy, our nation, and the kids you have led and made into better people. Fair winds and following seas, now and always, shipmate . . .

Congratulations on your retirement! I really enjoy your posts and the little glimpses of your character that come through.

In the early 80's, you didn't happen to bump into a supply officer named Al? Al graduated Duke in '79. It's a big navy, but sometimes a small world.

But enough frivolity - just because you are retired, that's no excuse for slacking off - carry on!
