Our last basketball national championship came from a group of "alarmingly unathletic" group of players in 2010. This group displayed a love for each other and the game. They bonded as a team and played to each other's strengths. No true Duke fan really believed that at the beginning of the season that they had a chance to win a National Championship. It was not until the Maryland game that Zoubek earned his spot in the starting lineup then the whipping of UNC that Duke fans said hmmmmm. This team may have the components to win it all.

That team was split between two classes. Scheyer and Zoubek came in together with a very late sign by Lance Thomas. The following year brought in Singler and Smith. Here are the comparisons:

Rasheed Sulaimon has been compared to Nolan Smith. Rasheed has a great handle, very unselfish and an abiity to get to the basket with a very nice jumper.

Alex Murphy is wearing #12 and has been compared to Kyle Singler. He has a nice jumper, ridiculous work ethic and can finish at the basket. He may be a more athletic Kyle Singler.

Marshall Plumlee is a back to the basket player unlike his brother Mason and is strong on the boards with an engine that does not stop. He is shorter than Zoubek but he could be what we have been missing in the middle for a few years.

Amile Jefferson was a very late sign that much like Lance Thomas we were not sure we were going to get. He has the length and ability to finish at the basket. His defensive game is probably ahead of his offensive game today.

Not sure if we have a Jon Scheyer on the team but it could be a Matt Jones that is in 2013 or it could be Quinn Cook with his ability to shoot from outside and ability to get the other players involved in the game.

With this group, we could be enjoying our 5th National Championship in 2015. Go Duke!!
